In recent years, the French visual effects industry has grown rapidly and is now considered one of the best in the world. Building on the legacy of Georges Méliès, French studios now work across a wide range of projects: from genre films like Alpha by Julia Ducournau and Dracula by Luc Besson, to historical films such as Les Couleurs du temps by Cédric Klapisch (in competition at TAFFF 2025), and even detailed recreations of the New Wave universe, also premiering at TAFFF.
Three major studios — BUF, MPC and Mac Guff — will showcase this distinctive “French Touch VFX” and demonstrate how visual effects are transforming French cinema. The talks will highlight how this artistic identity brings a unique style to many genres, from arthouse films to fantasy, and how it also fits into the release strategies of American distributors.
