For Culte – 2Be3, Selim Mondzie and Jean-François Fontaine from Tools & Folks teamed up with MPC Liège, who handled over 100 VFX shots and developed four main assets with a team of 11 artists over three months.
The production was overseen by Philippe Frère (VFX Supervisor), Stéphane Thibert (3D Supervisor), Laurence Hoeters (VFX Producer), and Hélène Vanovre (Executive Producer).

Among the visual effects created were the digital recreations of iconic concert venues such as Bercy and Le Zénith, with large-scale crowd scenes featured in 25 shots across episodes 5 and 6, and an opening shot in episode 1. Additional VFX work included various compositing tasks.

The main creative and technical challenges lay in building the concert sequences and managing 3D crowds. The team had to strike the right balance between rhythm, lighting, beams, and emotion in each shot, while maintaining strong artistic consistency. Crowd creation and animation required advanced optimization to reduce render times without compromising visual quality.
The standout sequence remains the concerts at Bercy. Larger than Le Zénith, this venue required handling a much wider space and denser crowd, increasing the technical complexity. The result: seamless integration of 3D into live-action footage, capturing the atmosphere and energy of a real concert.
With this project, MPC Liège once again demonstrates its expertise in recreating iconic events and crafting immersive scenes, offering viewers of Culte – 2Be3 a visually rich and authentic experience.
