On February 23, 2024, the César Awards celebrated the best visual effects, honoring Cyrille Bonjean, Bruno Sommier, and Jean-Louis Autret for their outstanding work on Le Règne Animal.
In a tribute to Georges Méliès, the pioneer of visual effects, Cyrille Bonjean daringly made his acceptance speech vanish in a single fiery gesture on stage!
Watch the winners’ interview just minutes after they went on stage:
“A huge thank you to you all, this journey connects us forever. When I look at the César, I know this award truly reflects what I think of our work and our collaborations with our friends in MFX and SFX. It’s the combination of many little pieces that make it a precious and unique object, just like Thomas’ film.” Cyrille Bonjean, to his MPC teams.
“Congratulations from me and Thomas [Cailley, the director] to all the MPC teams! I saw the video of everyone jumping for joy in front of the TV when the César was announced—what a thrill!” Pierre Guyard, producer.
“We are incredibly proud that Cyrille received this award, as it not only recognizes our work but also highlights the contribution of digital visual effects to French cinema. We are grateful to the entire Nord Ouest team and to Thomas Cailley for their trust. We are thrilled to have contributed, in our own way, to the success of this ambitious film.” Béatrice Bauwens, Head of Studio France & Belgium.
