We’re thrilled to announce that Technicolor Creative Studios is partnering with state-of-the-art virtual production company, NantStudios, which will power its new virtual production stage, opening in Los Angeles in 2023.

Technicolor Creative Studios has established the technology partnership and stage build as part of its investment in the future of filmmaking, due to growing demand for Virtual Production solutions. The new stage will serve Technicolor Creative Studios brands, MPC, The Mill, Mikros Animation & Technicolor Games, and clients looking to utilize Virtual Production technologies for feature films, episodic, advertising and gaming.

Technicolor Creative Studios partner NantStudios, is part of the NantWorks ecosystem of companies, offering fully integrated services including digital asset creation, AI machine learning expertise, motion control, performance capture and on-set operations. NantStudios is led by a global award-winning team and integrated with a secure layer 1 fiber network, with a family of issued patents covering cloud hybrid fabric, machine vision and computing technologies.

The ability to generate photorealistic 3D environments and visual effects on set, in real time through Virtual Production delivers an unparalleled level of creative flexibility. This will include the Technicolor Virtual Production stage in Culver City. “With their appetite for fusing compelling creative with progressive technology, Technicolor Creative Studios shares our vision for the future of filmmaking; one that is defined by revolutionary innovation and democratization” said Director of VP, Gary Marshall. NantStudios continues to offer its VP services to all clients and projects globally.

Clients partnering with Technicolor Creative Studios, will have access to NantStudios’ full suite of state-of-the-art Virtual Production technology in tandem with the award-winning capabilities of MPC’s artists globally, from pre-visualization to virtual scouting and final pixel production.

MPC President Tom Williams said “MPC has been innovators of virtual production tools and techniques for a number of years, delivering projects including Prehistoric Planet, The Lion King, The One and Only Ivan and The Jungle Book, and we are thrilled to be able to offer filmmakers and showrunners access to use real-time tools and talent at Technicolor Creative Studio’s new Virtual Production Stage.”

The Virtual Production stage and team at Technicolor Creative Studios will be helmed by Mariana Acuña Acosta, who leads Technicolor Creative Studios as Senior Vice President of Global Virtual Production.
